I decided to leave the boarder since I truly missed it when it was gone. I also resolved the issue of the "floating wedge" in the bottom left corner by having it bleed into the boarder.
looks great. the wedge doesnt seem awkward anymore!
You nailed it and you're absolutely right about the hand-drawn border around the edge.
